Core Valerian is a single-source herbal extract from the root of the Valeriana officinalis
plant. Valerian is native to Europe and Asia and naturalized in North America. It grows
wild in woodlands, along riverbanks, and in damp meadows.
Valerian root contains a unique set of volatile oils (camphene, borneol), sesquiterpene
alkaloids (valerenic acid), iridoid esters (valepotriates), alkaloids (actinidine, valerine,
valerianine, chatinine) that support a range of normal biochemical and physiological
responses related to relaxation of the central nervous system, smooth and skeletal
muscle, and the gastrointestinal tract.
